The Programme

We are still working on the programme, but are excited about how it is shaping up, the issues we plan to cover include:

  • Policing and Criminal justice - what can we do to challenge racism in the system?

.

  • Examples from our leaders: breaking through the concrete ceiling - looking at personal and career journeys.

.

  • Professional development for race organisations - looking at capacity building, funding and recruiting board members.

.

  • Building solidarity through grassroots community organisations - how do we breathe life into the saying ‘an injury to one is an injury to all’?

.

  • Progress in the north? focusing on developments in the North and what needs to happen to effect change

.

  • All Black Lives Matter - exploring intersectionality, and healing divisions within our communities.

  • Role of advocacy and campaigning - what works, and what doesn’t?

.

  • Influencing policy - how do we develop and advance policies that work for our communities?

.

  • From the local to the international - how do international events, from BLM to Palestine, impact our communities

.

  • Asylum seekers, refugees and migrants - the racism and injustices in the immigration systems and how they fuel racism

.

  • Defeating narratives of divisions - how do we inoculate our communities from a blame game that sees us all lose?

.

  • Trade Unions and workplace justice - what are trade unions doing (and what more could they do) to advance race equality in the workplace.
